RPE Face Fit Testing
These are a legal requirement for any persons who wear respiratory protection. These can be undertaken as a stand alone service or as a 'bolt on' to one of your booked courses.
Group Size: Contact for further details
Who should attend:
• Anyone wearing a close fitted face piece
• Where an untested face piece is already in use
• Changes to facial features
Available from as little as £8.00 per person.
Test aims: The performance of tight-fitting face pieces depends on achieving a good contact between the wearer’s skin and the face seal of the face piece. Peoples’ faces vary significantly in shape and size so it is unlikely that one particular type, or size of RPE face piece, will fit everyone. Inadequate fit will significantly reduce the protection provided to the wearer. Any reduction in protection can put the RPE wearer’s life in danger or may lead to immediate or long-term ill health.
Test Objective: Where respiratory protective equipment (RPE) is used as a control measure under Health and Safety Legislation, it is vital that the selected RPE is adequate and suitable. RPE must reduce exposure to as low as reasonably practicable, and in any case to an acceptable level (e.g. below any applicable Workplace Exposure Limits or Control Limits).
• Based on the “BITTREX” solution test method
• Subject is required to undertake a series of basic exercises to demonstrate suitable fit and performance of the mask
All candidates must be clean shaven prior to the test
Certification: Upon successful completion of the end of the test the candidates will receive a certificate.
