Safe Removal of Asbestos Cement Products from all Types of Buildings

Asbestos Cement Removal — Garage Roofs, Sheds & Outbuildings.

Asbestos cement products — including corrugated roofing sheets, flat profile ceiling and wall panels, soffit boards, water tanks, guttering and pipes— were amongst the most widely produced asbestos-containing materials in the UK. Millions of garages, workshops, agricultural buildings, outbuildings and industrial units were built using asbestos cement, and large quantities remain in place today.

Types of Asbestos Cement

Asbestos Cement Products We Remove

Corrugated Roofing

The most common type — corrugated asbestos cement sheets used on garage roofs, farm buildings, workshops, industrial units and domestic outbuildings.

Flat Sheets

Flat asbestos cement panels used as wall panels, ceiling panels and bath panels in a wide range of domestic, commercial and industrial buildings.

Soffit Boards

Asbestos cement soffit boards used on the underside of eaves on houses and commercial buildings. Commonly found on properties built before 2000.

Water Tanks

Cold water storage cisterns manufactured from asbestos cement were standard in domestic and commercial properties up until the late 1980s.

Downpipes & Gutters

Asbestos cement guttering and downpipes used on many older properties. Often in deteriorating condition, requiring careful handling and correct disposal.

Garage Structures

Some pre-fabricated garage structures used asbestos cement for walls as well as roofs. We assess and remove all affected materials as part of a complete job.

Garage Roof Removal

Asbestos Garage Roof Removal — Domestic & Commercial

Asbestos cement garage roofs are one of the most common asbestos removal jobs we carry out for homeowners and landlords across the UK. Many properties built from the 1950s through to the 1980s — and some into the 1990s — had gages roofed with corrugated asbestos cement sheets. While the risk from an intact garage roof in good condition is relatively low, weathered, cracked or broken sheets can shed asbestos fibres. If you are replacing a garage roof, extending your property or demolishing an outbuilding, the asbestos cement must be removed by a contractor that has the correct training, competence and insurances before any other works begin.

Our Removal Process

How We Remove Asbestos Cement Products

Our removal process follows all HSE guidance and the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012. We apply the same professional standards across all asbestos cement work.

Survey & Quote

We gather as much information as possible and if deemed necessary, visit the site, assess the quantity and condition of asbestos cement, and provide a written fixed-price quotation. No hidden costs.

Safe Removal

Sheets are wetted, fixings removed carefully and whole to minimise breakage and fibre release. Operatives wear appropriate RPE throughout.

On-Site Packaging

All asbestos cement waste is either wrapped polythene or double-bagged in heavy-duty, clearly labelled asbestos waste bags on site before being loaded into a sealed skip or vehicle.

Licensed Disposal

As a registered hazardous waste carrier, AIB Solutions transport asbestos waste directly to our own EA permitted hazardous waste disposal facility

Waste Transfer Note

You receive a fully completed consignment note as proof of safe, legal disposal. Essential for property sale or planning purposes.

Completion Report

A written completion report is issued confirming that all identified asbestos cement has been safely removed and disposed of in accordance with current legislation.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

Still have questions? Call our team — free advice, no obligation.

01782 613773
Is asbestos cement dangerous?

Asbestos cement in good condition poses a relatively low risk. However, weathered, cracked, broken or deteriorating sheets can release fibres when disturbed. All removal work should be carried out by a professional contractor. Do not pressure-wash, drill or cut asbestos cement sheets.

Do I need a licence to remove asbestos cement?

Asbestos cement removal is generally classed as non-licensed or notifiable non-licensed work (NNLW) rather than licensed work, but it must still be carried out by a competent contractor who follows the correct procedures, wears appropriate RPE and arranges licensed hazardous waste disposal. AIB Solutions hold a full HSE licence and meet all requirements.

How much does garage roof removal cost?

Costs depend on the size of the roof, access requirements and disposal volumes. A typical single-car domestic garage roof can be removed from around £400–£800 in many cases. We provide a firm fixed-price quotation following a free assessment so you know exactly what you will pay.

How quickly can you do the work?

In most cases we can survey within a few days of enquiry and schedule removal work within 1–2 weeks. For time-sensitive projects we will do our best to accommodate your programme. Emergency works can also be arranged where required.
